It is important to have an idea of the layout of the webpage before it is created, we studied three main types of webpage layouts. The first of which being Linear, this is a layout that only travels in one direction back and forth, this style is only really useful for a website that offers one function, such as a questionnaire or online story.
The second type of layout was a hierarchy, this is the most common website style, and I will be using this. It means that there is a homepage known as the index and all of the other pages are linked to this, then those other pages have subpages that link together as well. This layout is very easy to navigate.
Lastly, there are matrix layouts, these do not have any index pages and can be entered from anywhere, not many websites choose to use these as they are often hard to navigate however they do not require you to enter from the homepage, making it easier to find what you want if you know what you're doing, the layout for my website's 4 pages is shown below.
